Miss Tourism 2011
Miss Tourism contest is an annual beauty
pageant and an initiative which is set to
promote talent and principally market and
promote Myanmar Tourism both locally and
internationally.
Under the supervision of Union of Myanmar Travel
Association ( UMTA), the 2nd Miss Tourism contest
competition, organized by the Myanmar Tourism Services
Co.,Ltd, held at the Strand hotel in Yangon, Myanmar,
March 19, 2011 and the contest attached with a fun fair.
The contestants who have knowledge of tourism
education, are allowed to compete with two costumes - a
fashionable and a traditional one.
Myanmar Assigns New Tourism Ambassador for 2011
YANGON, March 19 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar has
assigned a newly tourism ambassador, 17-year old Khin Yu
Pa, for 2011 aimed at promoting tourism industry in the
country and enhancing the interest of citizens in the
tourism sector, an event organizer of the competition
told Xinhua at the Miss tourism 2011 competition held at
the Strand hotel in Myanmar's Yangon Saturday.
Under the supervision of Union of Myanmar Travel
Association ( UMTA), the competition, organized by the
Myanmar Tourism Services (MTS) Co, held the contest on
the grand scale, attaching with special fun fair,
beautiful dances, the performances of the famous
vocalists, comedians and lucky draw program.
The contestants aged between 16 and 25 having good
talent, basic knowledge on tourism and English language,
were allowed to compete with traditional dresses to
represent one of the national ethnics and fashionable
ones.
The winners were titled as Miss Tourism, 1st Runner up,
2nd Runner up, 3rd Runner up and 4th Runner up, Miss
Photogenic, Miss Costume as well as other consolation
prizes including cash awards were presented to the
outstanding contestants. Of the titles, the one who won
Miss Tourism will be assigned as a tourism Ambassador
and have the chance to attend international travel and
trade shows.
Myanmar has held such contests since 2010 and Ju Ju Kay
had entitled as 2010 tourism ambassador of the country.
According to the official figures, the number of foreign
guests and visitors entered Myanmar through Yangon and
Mandalay International Airports was 310,688 including
201,971 tourists in 2010 while the number of tourism
companies 658, that of tour guides 4,077. |
