Your passport should be valid
after your scheduled date of returning home. A
valid passport with Entry Visa for Tourist is
required to enter Myanmar of all visitors. It
can be obtained at any Myanmar Embassy or
Consulate offices abroad. If there is no Myanmar
Embassy and Consulate office in your country,
you can obtain Visa on Arrival at Yangon
International Airport at your arrival. It will
be provided by our company. The Entry Visa for
Tourist and Visa on Arrival will allow a stay of
28 days and extendable for an additional 147
days. Overland entry is permitted for third
country tourist with visa at Tachileik, Kaw
Thaung and Myawaddy (Myanmar and Thai Borders)
and Lwe-je, Muse and Mong Lar (Myanmar and China
Borders).
Custom
Jewelry, electrical good and
cameras, etc., must be cleared at Yangon
International Airport. If you bring more than
USD 2000, it may be declared at custom. Visitors
are not allowed to bring in or out take out
Myanmar currency, Kyats, antiques and
archaeologically valuable items are not allowed
to be taken out.
Currency
Myanmar currency is “Kyat”
which comprises 100 pyas. The denominiations are
Kyat-1000, 500, 200, 100, 90, 50, 45, 20, 15,
10, 5, 1. The United State Dollar is now widely
used in Myanmar. The best way is to bring USD in
cash.
Communication
Overseas call can be made at
communication office or a hotel in major cities,
E-mail and Internet are also available in
Myanmar. It can be used at a hotel or internet
café in most of the tourist spots of our
country.
Time
The Myanmar Standard Time is
six and half hours in advance of Greenwich Mean
Time. One and half hours difference with
Singapore and 30 minutes with Thailand.

Domestic power is 220-240
volts, 50 Hz.
Insurance
Travelers are advised to
purchase insurance that will provide
medical-evacuation coverage. Insurance will be
available upon request.
Food
In Myanmar, there are many
